The Kamloops Indian Band chief spent the better part of September on a journey with political aspirations — to visit other First Nations communities in the province and meet with their leaders.

Gottfriedson is hoping to make history as the first Shuswap chief elected as the Assembly of First Nations’ (AFN) Regional Chief of British Columbia.

Notice of Nomination Meeting

Notice is hereby given that a meeting of the electors of the Tk'emlups to Secwepemc will be held at Skelep School on October 10th 2009, from 7pm -9pm for the purpose of nomiating candidates for Chief and Council of the Tk'emlups te Secwepemc for the next ensuing term. A copy of the electors list is posted in the administration building as well as on the TIB Weekly and on the website at www.tkemlups.ca. Secwepemc territory Kamloops,B.C., Chief Shane Gottfriedson, current chief of the Tk’emlups
Indian Band, officially announced his candidacy for the B.C. Regional Chief on July 23 by
resigning from his director’s post on the B.C. Assembly of First Nations (BC AFN) board.
