The Tk'emlups Indian Band in cooperation with the Secwepemc Nation Stsmemelt Project Summer Soltice Celebration  is hosting an event for the entire family. It's the annual Aboriginal Day/Summer Solstice Event on June 21, 2010 from 10:00am-4:00pm at the Kamloopa Powwow Arbor.

Chief and Council not happy with Kamloops elementary school closures

Chief and Council of the Tk’emlups Indian Band are extremely disappointed with the Kamloops School District’s decision to close Ralph Bell and John Todd elementary schools.

Ralph Bell and John Todd are two of only three elementary schools in the district that offer Secwepemc cultural education and their closures will come as a big hit to the First Nations community.

Attention Youth ages 19-29 - Vancouver Indigenous Youth Gathering

The Indigenous Youth Gathering is looking for approximately 5 youth to perform in cultural performancy.

Youth ages 19-20 are invited to come to Vancouver between January 30th-February 14th, 2010 to perform in cultural performances during the Vancouver Winter Olympics.

Accomodations and meals will be paid for. This is a great opportunity for anyone in the age group to meet people your own age from around the country, and demonstrate

Kamloops, B.C.( December 17, 2009) - The Tk’emlúps Indian Band has filed a claim in British Columbia Supreme Court to lands that were set apart as a reserve for them under the administration of Governor James Douglas in 1862. The land, referred to as the “Douglas Reserve”, is adjacent to the Tk’emlúps Band’s current main reserve located along the North and South Thompson Rivers.

Kamloops, BC (November 26, 2009) – It was an emotional night at the Tk’emlups Indian Band (TIB) as they said goodbye to the departing Council members and welcomed the new ones.

After a long night of voting that ended at 4:00am on Saturday November 14th, 2009 the results are finally in. The results were very close, thank you to all band members who came and and showed their support by voting. Congratulations to the new members Chief and Council and a big thank you to the outgoing members of council Harry Paul Jr., Vicki Manuel, Dave Manuel and Kevin Jules for the work you have done over the past years.
