Cheif speaks at Crown-First Nation Gathering in Ottowa

Chief Shane Gottfriedson attended the first ever Crown-FIrst Nations Gathering in Ottowa on January 24, 2012.

Out of 400 Chiefs in attendance, Gottfriedson was one of 90 selected to sit in the main room where the Crown (Prime Minister) and AFN leaders were gathered.

Gottfriedson was also selected to speak on economies at the Gathering, where he touched on a few economic issues that are near and dear to the TIB specifically as well as First Nations as a whole.

 Tk'emlups joins with Sechelt band in residential school lawsuit

Tk'emlups Indian Band has partnered with the Sechelt First Nation in a bid to win compensation for students at residential schools who attended only during the day.

Leaders, along with Assembly of First Nations chief Shawn Atleo, spoke to reporters in Kamloops Wednesday.

Lawyer Len Marchand Jr. said papers have not yet been filed and it's not been determined whether the suit will be filed in B.C. Supreme Court or Federal Court.
